French Classes for Canada PR in Toronto – Earn 50 CRS Points

French is one of the few skills that can lift your Express Entry score by 50 points in one go. The bonus is not automatic, though. You need NCLC 7 in all four French abilities, plus English at CLB 5 or higher, and Chaitanya French Academy helps you build the French side step by step through live Zoom classes that fit a Toronto schedule.

Quick answer

Can French classes really give me 50 CRS points?

Classes alone do not add a single point to your profile. What adds points is a valid TEF Canada or TCF Canada result that shows NCLC 7 or higher in listening, speaking, reading and writing. If your English is also CLB 5 or higher in all four abilities, IRCC adds a 50-point bonus. If your English is weaker, or untested, the bonus is 25 points instead.

So the classes are the road, and the test is the gate. Our job is to get you through the road quickly and honestly, whether you are starting from zero or already know some French. We teach live online from Karnal, India; we do not have a classroom in Toronto.

How the points work

How French earns CRS points for Toronto PR applicants

Express Entry rewards bilingualism, and it does so in more than one place in the CRS formula. Understanding each layer helps you decide how much French you actually need.

Layer 1: second-language points

When English is your first official language, French counts as your second. At NCLC 7 or 8, each ability earns 3 points, which makes 12 for all four. At NCLC 9 or higher, each ability earns 6 points, which makes 24.

Layer 2: the French bonus

On top of that, NCLC 7 or higher in all four French abilities adds a bonus of 25 or 50 points. You get 50 when your English is CLB 5 or higher in all four abilities, and 25 when it is lower or untested.

A simple example

Your French resultSecond-language pointsBonus (with CLB 5+ English)Total from French
NCLC 7 in all four abilities125062
NCLC 9 in all four abilities245074
NCLC 6 in even one abilityNo bonus0Small or none

Figures reflect IRCC's Express Entry rules as reported by several immigration sources at the time of writing, for a single applicant with English as the first language. Points differ if you apply with a spouse or partner, and rules can change, so verify everything on canada.ca or with a licensed immigration consultant. We teach French; we do not give immigration advice.

Notice one thing in that table. The bonus does not grow after NCLC 7, and one ability at NCLC 6 can wipe it out. For most Toronto applicants, then, the smartest target is a balanced NCLC 7 across all four skills, rather than a very high speaking score and a weak reading score.

Beyond the bonus

The French-language category: why NCLC 7 can matter even more than the points

IRCC runs category-based Express Entry rounds, and French-language proficiency is one of them. To be considered, you need NCLC 7 in all four abilities and eligibility for one of the Express Entry programs.

In recent years these rounds have often used lower CRS cut-offs than general draws, so French can help in two ways at once: it raises your score, and it may place you in a smaller pool. Even so, nobody can promise an invitation, because every round depends on who is in the pool that day. Check IRCC's current draw results before you plan around any cut-off number.

  • NCLC 7 in all four abilities is the entry ticket for the French category
  • The same NCLC 7 also unlocks the 25 or 50 point bonus
  • TEF Canada and TCF Canada results are valid for two years for immigration use
Your roadmap

From first lesson to 50 CRS points: a clear four-step path

1

Check English first

Look at your IELTS or CELPIP results. If all four abilities are at CLB 5 or higher, the 50-point version is within reach. If not, plan to improve English alongside French.

2

Find your French level

We assess where you stand today, whether that is A1, A2 or B1, and then map the distance to NCLC 7, which is roughly the B2 range.

3

Build and then train for the exam

First comes language: grammar, vocabulary, listening and speaking. After that comes exam training with timed practice for TEF Canada or TCF Canada.

4

Test, convert and update your profile

Once you have your results, IRCC converts each ability to an NCLC level. You then add the results to your Express Entry profile, ideally with your consultant's guidance.

Which French class suits your starting point?

There is no single right course for everyone. A person who studied French at school needs a different path from someone who has never opened a French book.

Why learn with us

How our French classes help you reach NCLC 7

CEFR-based curriculum

Levels from A1 to C2 follow global standards, which suits study, work, travel and Canada PR goals alike.

Small batches

Regular speaking practice, pronunciation correction and progress tracking only work when the group is small enough for the trainer to hear everyone.

Live online classes

You join live Zoom batches from home. After enrolment, our team shares your schedule and meeting link.

Exam-style practice

Mock tests and section-wise drills for listening, speaking, reading and writing keep your preparation balanced.

Speaking feedback

Guided correction helps you sound more natural, organised and understandable, which matters in a test where speaking is scored on its own.

Experience since 2007

More than twenty years of teaching and over 4,000 learners trained across spoken French, DELF and TEF/TCF programs.

For Toronto learners

Learning French online from Toronto: what to expect

Toronto is a busy, mostly English-speaking city, so daily French practice does not happen by accident. Structured classes give you that practice on purpose.

Our academy runs every day of the week, from early morning to late night India time. India is roughly 9.5 to 10.5 hours ahead of Toronto, depending on daylight saving, which means that Toronto evenings and weekends can often be matched with a batch. Neither a long commute nor a fixed daytime timetable should stand between you and your score. Send us a WhatsApp message with your free hours, and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

  • Attend from a laptop at home, with no travel time
  • Ask doubts live and get corrected immediately
  • Move from general French to exam preparation in the same academy

Common mistakes that cost points

  • Aiming only for the French score and ignoring English CLB 5
  • Letting one ability slip to NCLC 6
  • Booking TEF or TCF before a full timed mock
  • Taking the test too early and letting results expire before the profile is ready
  • Expecting classes alone to add points

What works better

  • Check both English and French targets at the start
  • Train all four abilities equally, with extra time on the weakest
  • Practise under timed conditions from early on
  • Sync your test date with your Express Entry plan
  • Speak with a licensed consultant about your overall strategy

FAQs

French for Canada PR in Toronto: your questions answered

1. How can French give me 50 CRS points for Canada PR?

You earn the 50-point bonus when you reach NCLC 7 or higher in all four French abilities (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and CLB 5 or higher in all four English abilities. Both sets of results must be valid and added to your Express Entry profile.

2. Do French classes alone give CRS points?

No. Classes build your skills, but points come only from an approved test result, such as TEF Canada or TCF Canada, that meets the required NCLC level.

3. What is NCLC 7, and what TEF score do I need?

NCLC 7 is the French version of CLB 7. On TEF Canada it generally means about 249–279 in listening, 207–232 in reading, and 310–348 in speaking and writing. IRCC publishes more than one table, so check the one that matches your test date.

4. What if my English is below CLB 5?

You can still earn the French bonus, but it drops to 25 points instead of 50. Improving English to CLB 5 or higher in all four abilities unlocks the larger bonus.

5. Can I learn French online while living in Toronto?

Yes. Our classes run live on Zoom, so you can attend from home. After you enrol, our team shares your schedule and meeting link. We teach from India, and we do not have a Toronto classroom.

6. How long will it take to reach NCLC 7?

It depends on your starting level, your study time and your consistency. Someone with school-level French will move faster than a complete beginner. We assess you first and then suggest a realistic plan, without quoting a fixed timeline.

7. Which course should a beginner join?

Most beginners start with the Intensive French Course (A1 to B1) or the Semi-Intensive Course if they prefer a steadier pace. After that, they move to higher-level classes and then to TEF or TCF preparation.

8. TEF Canada or TCF Canada: which should I take?

IRCC accepts both for Express Entry. Choose the one whose format suits you and whose test dates and centres fit your timeline. We prepare learners for both and can help you compare them.

9. Does NCLC 7 French also help with French-language draws?

Yes. NCLC 7 in all four abilities is the minimum for IRCC's French-language proficiency category. Invitations still depend on each round's cut-off, so no one can guarantee a result.

10. How do I start, and how can I talk to someone first?

Message us on WhatsApp at +91 94164 28427 or use the contact page on this website. Tell us your current French and English levels, and we will recommend a starting course and batch.
